Upper Key Stage Two comprises of years 5 and 6, with year 6 being the final year of primary school; we use cross-curricular projects in which subjects overlap to reinforce and compliment each other. Each project is planned carefully to meet the needs and capabilities of the child. We aim to develop the knowledge, concepts, skills and attitudes necessary for your child's whole development. We embrace 'Learning Without Limits' where children are not put into boxes but are given the space to grow and to surprise themselves (and us) about what they can achieve.

Term 3&4 Change...for Life!
This term, Year 6 will be exploring our exciting new project, Change… for Life!, which brings together key science learning about how living things change, survive and stay healthy.
We will begin by looking at evolution and inheritance, learning how plants and animals have changed over time and how characteristics are passed from parents to offspring. Children will explore fossils, adaptations and the idea of “survival of the fittest”, developing an understanding of how living things are suited to their environments and how species evolve over many generations.
Building on this idea of change and survival, the project will then move inside the human body. Pupils will learn how the heart and circulatory system work to keep us alive, how blood transports oxygen and nutrients, and why exercise, diet and lifestyle choices are so important for long-term health. This learning will link closely to healthy living, helping children understand how the choices they make now can have a lifelong impact.
Throughout the project, children will develop their scientific knowledge, vocabulary and enquiry skills, while also making meaningful connections between the natural world and their own lives. Change… for Life! encourages curiosity, responsibility and an appreciation of how both our bodies and the world around us are shaped by change over time.

Term 1&2 What Happened in World War Two?
WWII SOLDIER SILHOUETTES
Our 2D to 3D Art Project - the Year 6 class worked hard, using grids and their skills of identifying negative spaces to upscale soldier silhouettes. They layered the soldiers with tissue paper to add texture and created strong structures by coating them with PVA glue and attaching their creations to wooden stands. Finally, they painted them black for the silhouette feature. The life-sized soldiers where then displayed during our Remembrance Service as powerful 3D art that the children stood amongst to recite 'In Flanders Field' by John McCrae.

Welcome to Year 6 - September 2025
We are looking forward to welcoming our Year 6 pupils into Rabbits Class to what promises to be an exciting and memorable final year of primary school. This year is all about growth, leadership, and preparation—Year 6 children will take on new responsibilities, rise to fresh challenges and enjoy opportunities to shine both in and out of the classroom.
From fascinating projects like What Happened in WWII?, to SATs preparation, our residential trip to Kilve Court, our Year 6 production and transition activities for secondary school, Year 6 is packed with learning, laughter, and lasting memories. We’ll be encouraging independence, resilience and teamwork every step of the way.
We look forward to working closely with parents and carers to support each child’s journey and celebrate their achievements throughout the year. Let’s make it a fantastic final chapter of primary school!

This term, Y6 Rabbits Class will be embarking on a fascinating historical journey to explore one of the most significant events of the 20th century: World War II. Through engaging lessons, hands-on activities and thoughtful discussions, children will develop a deeper understanding of the causes, key events and global impact of the war.
We will be focusing on themes such as love, resilience, community, innovation, and peace. Pupils will investigate how everyday life was affected during wartime, hear stories of courage and kindness and reflect on how history shapes the world we live in today.
We’re excited to see the curiosity and empathy this project inspires and we look forward to sharing the children’s work with you throughout the term.
