Year one and Year two are the two year-groups in Key Stage One. We use cross-curricular projects in which subjects overlap to reinforce and compliment each other.  Each project is planned carefully to meet the needs and capabilities of the child.  We aim to develop the knowledge, concepts, skills and attitudes necessary for your child's whole development while embracing the 'Learning Without Limits' ethos where children are not put into boxes but are given the space to grow and achieve.

Brunel's Britain

This term, we’re setting off on an exciting adventure as we explore our new topic: Brunel's Britain. Get ready to climb aboard a steam train with the legendary engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, stroll along the Victorian promenade at Weston-super-Mare, and discover how holidays and travel have changed over time!

We'll be comparing transport from the past to the present, designing our own trains, writing postcards from seaside adventures, and even creating our own Punch and Judy shows! In science, we’ll be keeping an eye on the changing seasons and exploring coastal habitats. There will be photography, puppet-making, storytelling, gymnastics, and plenty of teamwork along the way.

Our value this term are Love – and we’ll be thinking about how we show this in our learning and in how we treat one another.

Keep checking this page for photos, updates and some surprises from our Victorian journey!

MOLES CLASS WOW DAY!

The children experienced a WOW Day and went on a pirate adventure. They learnt all about pirate ships, pirate routes, pirate food and life aboard pirate ships. Also, this term, the children have designed their pirate boats and tested them out to see if they could float.

Term 1&2  2024-5 Desert Explorers

MOLES CLASS WOW DAY!

The children experienced a WOW Day and have been on an African adventure. They have been learning about Massai Necklace Art and how the different colours in the necklaces represents bravery, peace, health etc. Each of the children made their own designs using a paper plate for their necklace.
Next, they enjoyed doing Adinkra which is printing on cloth. The children selected a stencil and painted the stencil in a chosen colour. Then, they stamped the stencil on the cloth. The children also enjoyed listening to stories from Kwame about Ghana and certainly learnt lots about life in Africa.
In the afternoon, the children finished off their Wow day learning a traditional African dance and participating in drumming. It was a great day and the children really enjoyed participating in our special day.

WHOLE SCHOOL BEACH DAY!

We started our new school year with a trip the sea front! The walk there was lovely and the children enjoyed travelling through the woods and down through Grove Park. At the beach, the children showed amazing teamwork to create a sea turtle- I think you would agree how fantastic it looks! At the end we made sure that the beach was returned to how it was before we came in order to respect and help take care of our environment.
