The Church and the School

St. Paul's Church, Kewstoke

The history of our school: prior to joining the Bath and Wells Multi Academy Trust, Worlebury St. Paul's School was built as a Church of England Voluntary Aided School. An Aided School is a trust, a privilege and an opportunity. These schools with their sites, buildings and often endowments of land, property or funds were given by our forefathers for a purpose. This is, "The education of children according to the principles of the Church of England." (Extract from - The Aided Schools Handbook). The school was originally situated on Milton Hill and was moved to its present address in Woodspring Avenue in 2002. The foley in one of our spiritual gardens is the only original part of the old building that was physically brought up and re-built in the school grounds.

Rev Gail Thomas

Our school is linked with the parish of St Paul and St Lawrence which is part of the new Benefice by the Sea and led by the Rev Gail Thomas. It is within   Locking Deanery, part of the Diocese of Bath and Wells. Every effort is made to strengthen the link between School and Church. Children will visit and worship at St Paul's Church, Kewstoke and St Lawrence's Church, Wick on occasions during the school year and Rev Gail Thomas visits Worlebury School to lead our Family Worship every fortnight.

Rebecca Knowles (a parent at Worlebury St. Paul's) designed the logo for the new Benefice by the sea.

Due to Health and Safety reasons we cannot walk down to St. Paul's Church via Monks Hill and therefore we will ask for a voluntary contribution towards the cost of transport there. Although this is an expensive option to travel to our nearest church, we believe it is money well spent to ensure your child’s safety. The walk back up to school from the church will be risk assessed for each event. The children would also need transport to and from St. Lawrence's Church, which is also in our parish, as this is in Wick St. Lawrence.

Parents, families and the community are welcomed to join us every Thursday.  This is a special worship that is led by the Headteacher, a member of the clergy or our children.
